Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Theatre on Ice?

The best of everything figure skating! Theatre on Ice incorporates freestyle, dance, choreography, performance skills, pairs skills, and team skills to create an artistically exciting production TEAM of skaters! We use music, props, costumes, and choreography to tell a story on the ice - much like watching a production in a theatre, we create a production on a sheet of ice.

What does a Theatre On Ice Team actually do?

After auditions in the fall, we train weekly and prepare 3 programs:

1) Holiday Show Program

2) Choreographic Exercise (Short Program)

3) Free Skate (Long Program)

Once we have perfected our programs, it's showtime! We perform and compete locally, but we also travel together as a team to different destinations each year - the epitome of our season is the National Theatre on Ice Competition in June where nearly 100 teams from across the United States gather to compete for the coveted National Medals!

What are the SKILL requirements to audition for Las Vegas Ice Theatre?

All skaters must have passed ISI Freestyle 2 or USFS Free Skate 2. For our Traveling Teams, skaters are strongly encouraged to have passed their USFS Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills (Moves in the Field) or higher. No previous team or theatre experience is necessary!

What are the AGE requirements to audition for Las Vegas Ice Theatre?

We are currently accepting ALL AGES to audition for our team and hope to one day field an all adult team!

When are the team practices?

Our team practices once a week on Saturday mornings. Our season starts in September and goes through the first week of July.

How much does it cost to be on the team?

Monthly dues depend on the Team (Non-Traveling or Traveling) and typically range between $250-$400 per month. For more info, be sure to check out our TEAM CONTRACT.

What are the benefits of being part of Las Vegas Ice Theatre?

Too many to possibly mention! But some of our most favorite benefits are:

- Meeting new friends who share the same passion!

- Performing and competing with others is SO much fun! It takes some of the nerves and stress away when you're all on the ice together!

- A sense of pride in knowing you are part of an award-winning, National-medal-earning, incredible TEAM!

- Comradery and a wonderful support system - for both the skaters and the parents!

- Developing theatrical skating skills and team skating skills that well help with future endeavors (for example: skating with Disney On Ice or in Shows).

- Traveling to competitions all over the US...and possibly internationally!

- If you make the Traveling Team, Nationals is one of the BIGGEST competitions figure skating has to offer - and you get to experience it with your friends!

- Nationals Pin-Trading...a super fun time collecting Pins from teams from all across the US!
